Portland: At about 7:30pm on Monday, January 28, 2013, a grey Toyota wagon motor car enroute to the Fellowship District in the Rio Grande Valley
area collided with a truck at Wain Road, causing three of its passengers to be rushed to the Port Antonio General hospital, in serious conditions.
It is alleged that the truck was going in the opposite direction of the car and experienced a failed brakes while trying to maneuver its way pass a parked pickup truck when it collided with the motor car. None of the drivers of both vehicles sustained any injuries.
However a female passenger in the front of the car was said to have serious head injuries, while a male in the back had minor head injuries and other body injuries and a male passenger travelling in the trunk of the car is said to be suffering from a broken back.
One eye witness said he was on the same side of the road that the car was coming and he was trying to stop the car but the driver was speeding and did not heed ; resulting in a head-on collision with the truck that apparently had no brake and could not stop again.
It took over 100 residents, 2 lines of vehicles and a little over 45 minutes for the Port Antonio police to make an appearance at the scene of the accident in order for the road to be cleared so traffic could continue. Residents of Wain Road thronged the sidewalk and everyone had a story to tell.
More to come in subsequent news.
