Roy Thompson a.k.a. Bugle was born in Portland, Jamaica. Bugle’s fledgling love affair with music began as early as in primary school.
However, this affair never matured until the birth of the new millennium when he met Oniel Bryan aka Elephant Man in 2000. He was then ushered into the dancehall fraternity when he was asked to write for Elephant Man. Writing for Dancehall’s most energetic performer allowed him to join Elephant Man on the “Good to Go” Tour with an appearance on BET’s 106 and Park. Of course this was just the beginning as an appearance at the 2002 MTV Awards Japan followed with a tour in Canada.
In 2005, Bugle met Shawn Scott, CEO of Shawn Scott Music Group (SSMG) under whose auspices he stayed for one year. By 2007 Bugle teamed up with DASECA, a music production triad committed to fostering freedom of musical expression whilst ensuring that the human face of music is nourished. With the aid of DASECA Bugle fully emerged into the spotlight with songs; “What We Gonna Do?”, “Journeys” and a collaboration with Serani on “Doh”.
Bugle is dedicated to the studios of Jamaica, recording new songs every week creating an extensive catalog and excellent delivery. After 8 years, we can state that he got it as he’s had a number of charting releasing including; “Hypocrite Can’t Look In A Mi Eyes” and “Set Me Free (ft Movado). Positive. Conscious. Real. Lyrical. Soulful….the Journey continues.
